Let’s talk it over

We’re here for every relationship: either with yourself or with others – whenever you need support

Support tailored to you

Following the closure of Relate National in November 2024, our centre has been focused on securing a strong and sustainable future. With a heritage spanning over 60 years, we will continue providing our trusted services within Derby, Southern Derbyshire and East Staffordshire, under the name of Relationships Derby.

Relationships Derby (formerly Relate Derby and Southern Derbyshire) offers support for every kind of relationship including counselling for individuals, couples and intimate partner relationships, children & young people and psychosexual therapy, prioritising direct human connection between our highly skilled practitioners and our clients.

Our highly trained team of counsellors provide a safe space where you can process and explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. Whatever you are going through such as anxiety, depression, low self esteem, relationship or family issues, Relationships Derby will give the tools to navigate through this.

The exceptional quality of service we provide has resulted in us being awarded the GHP Most Trusted Counselling Service in the East Midlands 2025

Ways to talk to our counsellors

We offer counselling in a wide range of ways so we can do our best to meet your needs: Most people choose to meet face-to-face with their counsellor, if you’re not sure which delivery type you would prefer call us to discuss your options. Some people have their services in a mixture of ways to suit their needs week to week.

  • Face to face counselling. Many of our clients prefer the intimacy and connection offered by face to face in-person counselling sessions – something that many counselling services do not offer any more. These sessions are held at our spacious and comfortable central office in Derby’s Vernon Gate, just off Friar Gate where we have a number of private counselling rooms.
  • Over the telephone. Our phone counsellors have specialist training. You can either have all your sessions on the phone or have a particular session by this method when it is more convenient for you. If you do not live near one of our Centres or you often work away from home then phone counselling can be a convenient option that helps you to get the support you need at a time and place that suits you.
  • Webcam. We can deliver many of our services via webcam. You can either have all your sessions via webcam or have a particular session by this method when it is more convenient for you. May be you work away for part of the year or do not live near our Centre and transport is difficult for you? Webcam counselling means you can continue to get the support you need, ‘meeting face to face’ with your counsellor. You will need to have a PC with a webcam, speakers and microphone and access to the internet.
